HelloWorld v.2008

Tuesday 1 July 2008 - Filed under Life Outside Work

If this were a programming project of some sort, I would name this first post HelloWorld without hesitation. But I am going to anyway. It’s akin to producers of a TV show naming their first episode “Pilot”.

It’s just a few minutes away from the beginning of the second half of 2008 and it really has been a world of difference since my last attempt to set up a “blog” back in 2006, which simply went nowhere. Now I look around and find so many things I think I can blog about, or at least make a written account of in some way. That probably has a fair bit to do with the fact that I don’t use a smart phone or Outlook or memo pad to organise my life. Not organising my life and not reflecting on it like others do may have directly and indirectly cost me significant life changes riddled with painful learning experiences, childish epiphanies, and plain stupidity particularly in the past couple of years. But more importantly, I’ve owned “jesskim.com” for close to four years and it’s time I put it to some productive use especially when my own job description all this while has been building Web sites and “systems” that supposedly help other people get organised and accountable in what they do.

Recollections aside, I am telling myself that this will be a space for professional-slash-geeky-slash-scholarly notes, information clippings, subjective reviews, life experiences, random thoughts, and things that lie somewhere in between. There are a number of interest areas I’d like to focus on, some of which are technical and work-related. While this blog is primarily intended to serve as my own little silo of “stuff”, it would also be great to see others stumble upon scraps of information that might relate to them.

So this is my first post. Before I forget, here I am printing HELLOWORLD.
